A great place to party or eat.

If there were a restaurant kitchen that deserved a "better than it has to be" award, Standard Grill would surely be in the running. The Standard Hotel, which is the restaurant's home, is a magnet for the European playboys and Secaucus belles that seem to only come out in the Meatpacking District, but somehow chef Dan Silverman has managed to fashion a menu that ought to please even the must austere foodies. Elevated simplicity is the order of the day with menu standouts like a gorgeous beet salad, milk-fed veal chops and a drippingly juicy hamburger. There's also a huge main dining room, two bar and lounge areas and an equally vast outdoor garden, but somehow the traditional American cuisine, made with top-flight ingredients, gets to everyone on time (not that they would notice). The bottom line: The Standard Grill is a great place to party or eat.
