In Short

[This description refers to another location.] Whoever said vegetarian food has to be healthy never visited Kate's Joint. Buffalo UnChicken wings, batter-fried tofu slathered in a spicy sauce, go as well with a cold beer (they're still waiting for their liquor license) as anything from KFC. And the McKate, a greasy, politically correct version of the Big Mac, piles together thin soy patties, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions and special sauce on a whole-wheat bun. While no amount of meat-free options can make up for the couldn't-be-bothered decor, industrial black chairs, dull terra-cotta tiles, canary-yellow walls, their version of the dirty-water dog, a smoky soy frankfurter in a focaccia roll with juicy sauerkraut, made us particularly happy that Kate has moved to Brooklyn.
