In Short

Those craving patio dining, dim lighting and a fun-loving Austin crowd may find a favorite in Shady Grove. Styled after the architecture made popular by 1940s state parks, the restaurant offers homey, relaxed dining inside and out. Menu items range from award-winning burgers and chili-cheese fries to the popular vegetarian sandwich. Even serious carnivores love the Hippie, with its grilled eggplant, peppers, zucchini, mushrooms and mozzarella cheese on "hippie" bread.

When to Go

For 20 weeks starting in April, go Thursday nights for the "Unplugged at the Grove" concert series featuring performances by favorite local musicians. Past performers include Shawn Colvin and Asleep at the Wheel.
