On the seventh floo'r of Macys on State, this Chicago classic is a high-ceilinged room that abounds with crystal chandeliers and imported dark Russian wood. Natural light floods through windows looking out onto the busy avenue. The crowd is a mix of ladies who lunch, tourists and corporate diners. Despite the black-tie service, the atmosphere is comfortable and unstuffy.The FoodYou'll find plenty of classics on the menu--spinach salad, chicken potpie--but also some choices for the daring. Coconut shrimp is a fun appetizer: four jumbo butterflied shrimp skewered to a chunk of pineapple, begging to be dipped into scintillating sesame-mango and chipotle-cream sauces. The classic Peach Nest tuna salad is a more conservative plate, with tuna salad and assorted fresh fruit and bread. Chicken potpie is a steaming bowl of chicken, peas and carrots hidden below an inch-thick puff pastry cap. Finish with another Windy City classic: Frango mint chocolate ice cream pie.
